Add a solid border around any image

This image border generator draws a solid colored frame around an image at the thickness you set. Choose an image, pick the border thickness in pixels and the border color, and download the framed result. It is a plain, predictable frame: the same thickness on all four sides, in one flat color, with no shadows or patterns. The same frame is applied evenly on every side.

Simple framing for everyday jobs

A border helps images sit cleanly in documents, listings and social posts, separating the picture from the page around it. Matching the border color to a brand color gives a set of images a consistent look, and a thick contrasting frame can make thumbnails stand out in a grid where every picture competes for attention.

Good to know

The border is drawn outside the original pixels, so the output image is larger than the input by twice the border thickness in each dimension. Nothing in your picture is covered or cropped away; the frame is added around it, and your original file stays unchanged on your device.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add a patterned or shadowed border?

No. This generator adds one solid color at one thickness on all sides, which covers most framing needs. For rounded corners specifically, the Rounded Image Generator handles that job; shadows and patterns need a fuller design tool.

Why is my downloaded image bigger than the original?

Because the border is added around the outside rather than painted over the edges. A 20 pixel border adds 40 pixels to both width and height. For an exact final size, resize the framed image afterward.

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. Files are processed in your browser and never sent to the site's server. The border is drawn on your device, and the framed image downloads directly from your browser.
