What this tool does

This find and replace text tool replaces every occurrence of a word or phrase in a text and tells you how many replacements were made. Paste your text, type what to find and what to put in its place, and the whole document updates at once. It handles name changes, repeated typos and wording updates across long drafts. The whole job takes a single click.

Using match case

Matching is literal: the tool looks for the exact characters you type. With Match case turned on, Word and word are treated as different text, so only exact matches change. Turn it off to replace regardless of capitalization, which is useful when the same word appears capitalized at sentence starts and lowercase elsewhere in the text.

Good to know

The tool matches literal text, not patterns, so characters like dots and brackets are treated as ordinary characters rather than search instructions. If a replacement seems to have missed a spot, check the two versions for differences in spacing or capitalization, especially when Match case is switched on.

Frequently asked questions

How do I replace every occurrence of a word?

Paste your text, enter the word in the Find field and its replacement in the Replace with field, then click Run All and check the replacement count.

Does it support search patterns or wildcards?

No. Matching is plain literal text. The tool finds the exact characters you type, which keeps results predictable for everyday word and phrase replacements in text.

Is my text processed privately?

Yes. Find and replace runs in your browser, so your text stays on your device and is not uploaded to a server or stored by the tool.
