Convert space-separated binary bytes back into readable text.
Try an example
Load a ready-made sample into this tool and run it. Every result you see is calculated live by the tool itself — nothing here is a pre-written answer.
Sample: input: 01001000 01101001
How to Use
- Paste binary, such as 01001000 01101001.
- Click Run.
- Read the decoded text.
What this binary to text converter does
This binary to text converter changes groups of binary digits back into readable characters. The input is read as a row of bytes — eight bits each, separated by spaces — and every byte becomes the character with that code. Paste a sequence such as 01001000 01101001 and the converter returns the text those bytes represent, in this case the word Hi.
When to use it
Use it for coursework, puzzle answers, debugging output and any place where text has been written out as binary bytes. It is also a clear way to check your own encoding: convert a word with the matching Text to Binary Converter, then bring it back here and confirm the round trip returns your original word unchanged.
Good to know
Bytes must be exactly eight bits each and separated by spaces. Other groupings — one long unbroken string, or chunks of seven or sixteen bits — are rejected with an error rather than guessed at, because a wrong grouping would silently produce the wrong characters throughout the result.
Frequently asked questions
Why was my binary rejected?
Most rejections come from the grouping. Count the digits in each chunk: every group needs exactly eight, with a space between groups. A missing digit, an extra digit or a stray character anywhere in the input will stop the conversion.
Do I need spaces between the bytes?
Yes. The spaces tell the converter where one byte ends and the next begins. Without them, a long run of zeros and ones could be split in several ways, so the converter asks for the grouping instead of guessing.
Can it decode numbers as well as letters?
It decodes whatever the bytes represent. The digits 0 to 9 are characters too, with codes from 00110000 to 00111001, so a byte sequence can just as easily spell out a number, a date or a line of punctuation.
