How to Use
- Choose a PNG file (up to 10 MB).
- Click Run Transparency.
- Read the share of fully and partly transparent pixels.
Checking whether a PNG really uses transparency
This transparent PNG checker examines a PNG's pixels and reports how much of the image is fully transparent and how much is partly see-through. Choose a PNG, click Run Transparency, and read the shares. Use this transparent PNG checker when a file claims a transparent background and you need to know whether that claim holds up. It reads the actual pixels, not the file name.
Useful before you rely on a cut-out
Check logos and product cut-outs before placing them on a colored background, confirm an exported PNG kept its alpha channel, or settle why an image shows a solid box where you expected see-through edges. The percentages show exactly how much transparency the file actually uses. It takes only a few seconds per file.
Good to know
The check reads the decoded pixels, not the file's settings. A PNG can allow transparency yet use none; such a file is reported as opaque, which is the honest answer for design work even if it surprises the person who exported it.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between fully and partly transparent?
Fully transparent pixels are completely see-through; partly transparent pixels are the semi-opaque ones along edges and shadows. The checker reports both shares, so you can tell a clean cut-out from one with a soft, blended fringe.
My PNG should be transparent but shows as opaque. Why?
The export probably flattened the image, or the original never had an alpha channel. Because the checker reads actual pixels, a file with no see-through pixels is reported opaque. Re-exporting with transparency enabled usually fixes it.
Is my PNG uploaded anywhere?
No. The pixels are analyzed inside your browser and the file is never sent to this site's server. Logos and unreleased design work are checked without leaving your device.
How to use Transparent PNG Checker
- Choose a PNG file (up to 10 MB).
- Click Run Transparency.
- Read the share of fully and partly transparent pixels.
Limitations
The check reads decoded pixels, so a PNG that merely allows transparency but uses none is reported as opaque. Files are processed in your browser and never sent to the site's server.
