Secure Token Generator

Generate random tokens in hexadecimal or Base64 for API keys, session ids and test data.

Try an example

Load a ready-made sample into this tool and run it. Every result you see is calculated live by the tool itself — nothing here is a pre-written answer.

Sample: bytes: 32; enc: hex

How to Use

  1. Choose the token length in bytes and its encoding.
  2. Click Run.
  3. Copy the token and store it safely.

What this secure token generator does

This secure token generator creates random tokens in hexadecimal or Base64, ready to use as API keys, session identifiers and test data. Set the length in bytes, pick an encoding, and run the tool. Longer tokens carry more randomness and are harder to guess, so the default length suits most development and testing purposes comfortably, without any setup, account or sign-up.

Where random tokens are useful

Developers reach for tokens when an application needs an unguessable string: keys that identify an API client, IDs that keep a signed-in session private, or placeholder secrets while building and testing. Generating them locally, right in the browser, is convenient for development work, examples, demos, documentation and one-off administrative tasks.

Good to know

Tokens come from your browser's cryptographic random source where available. Once you use a token somewhere real, treat it as a secret: store it like a password, never publish it in code or screenshots, and replace it if it leaks.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between hex and Base64?

Both encode the same random bytes. Hex uses sixteen characters, so tokens run longer; Base64 packs the same randomness into fewer characters using letters, digits and a couple of symbols. Choose whichever your system expects.

How long should my token be?

Length is set in bytes of randomness, and more bytes means a harder token to guess. The default suits most uses; go longer for tokens that protect something valuable, and avoid very short tokens for anything real.

Are these tokens safe for production secrets?

They are drawn from a cryptographic random source where the browser provides one, which is the right foundation. Even so, production secrets deserve managed storage and rotation, and any token you use should be handled as confidential.

How to use Secure Token Generator

Limitations

Tokens come from the browser's cryptographic random source where available; treat any generated token as secret once used.
