  2. Click Run.
  3. Compare sizes, then download the smaller file.

Compress PNG files without losing quality

This PNG compressor re-encodes a PNG image in your browser and shows the original and compressed file sizes side by side before you download. PNG compression here is lossless, which means the pixels come out identical to the original: the saving comes from more efficient encoding, not from removing detail or flattening transparency. Transparency and sharp edges survive the process untouched.

Best for graphics, logos and screenshots

PNG files are often heavier than they need to be because editors save them with inefficient settings, embedded extras or unoptimized encoding. Logos, icons, interface screenshots and diagrams with flat colors tend to benefit most, and because nothing is lost, the compressed file is a safe drop-in replacement for the original anywhere it is used.

Good to know

An already-optimized PNG may shrink very little, sometimes barely at all, because there is no waste left to remove. That is a property of lossless compression, not a failure: the tool reports the honest sizes either way, so you can keep whichever file is smaller.

Frequently asked questions

Will compressing a PNG make it look worse?

No. The re-encoding is lossless, so the downloaded PNG has exactly the same pixels as the original, transparency included. For a much smaller file at some quality cost, converting to JPG or WebP would shrink it further.

Why did my PNG only shrink a little?

Some PNGs are already saved efficiently, especially files exported by tools that optimize on save. Lossless compression can only remove redundancy, and a well-made PNG has little left. The size comparison shows the honest result either way.

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. Files are processed in your browser and never sent to the site's server. Your PNG is decoded and re-encoded on your own device, and the download is generated by your browser.
